The Tsinghua University Team makes a Historic Breakthrough in the 13th Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court

The 13th Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court was held from March 8th to 19th, 2021. A total of 46 teams participated in the Moot Court. After obtaining the national championship, the Tsinghua University team won the sixth place in the world with a total score of 710 in the international competition.


At the stage of elimination competitions, Grade 2020 graduate student Fredrik Lindmark, and Grade 2019 graduate student Zhou Mengdi of the Tsinghua University team, acted as attorneys of the respondent, and successfully defeated the Indian team to be entered for the quarter-finals.

There were six members the Tsinghua University team this year, namely Grade 2019 graduate students Zhou Mengdi and Jiang Xinyue, Grade 2020 graduate students Zhai Yufan, Jia Ye, and Fredrik Lindmark and Grade 2019 undergraduate student Ke Jingshu. Among them, Fredrik Lindmark, Zhou Mengdi and Jiang Xinyue acted as advocates, while Zhai Yufan, Jia Ye and Ke Jingshu as researchers.


The Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court, one of the most famous international moot competitions in the field of investment arbitration, mainly focuses on the settlement of transnational investment disputes, which draw close attention currently. The Moot Court, themed international investment arbitration, requires the participating teams to defend in English in accordance with the moot cases provided by the organizers and the current international treaties and precedents. The judges of the Moot Court are all experts and scholars who have scored outstanding achievements the field of international investment arbitration, judging the competitions in strict accordance with the real arbitration standards.
